Royal Hollloway

Royal Holloway, University of London (‘RHC’ or ‘RHUL’), is a regular customer at The Document Centre and we have supplied thesis binding to their students regularly over the last few months and historically. Opened by Queen Victoria in 1886, Royal Holloway is now one of the top research-led universities in the UK. The link to royalty continues to this day with The Princess Royal being the current Chancellor of the University of London, of which Royal Holloway is a part. Royal Holloway is set a stone’s throw outside the M25 just west of Egham in Surrey and a short distance from Runnymede where the Magna Carta was signed back in 1215. The listed ‘Founder’s Building’ (shown above) is set within a beautiful 135 acre campus and boasts an impressive silhouette of extravagant turrets and towers. With such striking good looks it has frequently been used as a film and TV location. The Founder’s Building is also home to an art collection which includes paintings by Millais, Landseer and Frith and formerly included a Turner, a Constable and a Gainsborough however those were controversially sold in the 1990’s (for £21m) in order to fund restoration work on the building itself.

Originally founded by the philanthropist and self-made multi-millionaire Thomas Holloway, Royal Holloway started life as a college for women, although of course years later it is co-educational. Set around two quadrangles it is offers a close-knit community with a safe and relaxed environment. It is particularly strong in Arts, Humanities, Information Security, Physics, International Relations, Earth Sciences and Media Arts. The university is ranked 17th in the UK and 118th worldwide in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2014-15. It is also ranked at No. 1 in the UK and No. 6 in the world for ‘international outlook’ and 1st (UK) and 11th (worldwide) for ‘research influence’, demonstrating it’s huge impact on global research as well as the diversity of its students and staff. The list of accolades goes on and on!

Royal Holloway has strong links to business, governments and charities for whom it is able to assist with both short and long-term projects, including cyber security, licensing, research and consultancy.

Notable alumni include David Bellamy OBE (botanist, environmentalist, author and broadcaster), George Elliot (novelist), ‘Example’ (pop singer/songwriter), KT Tunstall (pop singer/songwriter) various famous TV personalities and presenters, a large number of notable politicians and of course a whole host of influential academics.

Our university thesis & dissertation binding services

Our thanks go to the students and staff of Royal Holloway for both recent and past thesis binding commissions which we have undertaken either via our shop near London Bridge or supplied via our website’s “on-demand” ordering system. The latter has full online services so Royal Holloway students – and any other university’s students – can upload their thesis or dissertation in Acrobat PDF format, specify the printing options, decide upon one or more cover options (hard binding, soft binding, velo binding, wiro binding etc.), order useful extras like copies of CDs, register ribbons, DVD pockets and extra copies, and then either pay online or pick up and pay in person at the South London shop when the finished bookbinding is ready. The Document Centre has been offering this services worldwide for decades and can accommodate any university thesis binding specification (indeed many are pre-programmed into the online ordering system so most students can choose their university from a drop-down selector or alternatively specify something to their own unique preference).
